On the 18th of March, 2008 «N@vigation: Youth Hansa Volunteers’ Service» project started in Veliky Novgorod. The first lesson was devoted to the Hanseatic Union history and the hanseatic cities.

The project was the winner of the municipal innovation projects’ contest. The aim of the project is education and training of the group of volunteers and their participation in organization and carrying out the 29th International Hanseatic Days in Veliky Novgorod.

Project is organized by: Youth affairs department of Veliky Novgorod City Administration, municipal establishment «City Libraries», Novgorod Society for Antiquities, Youth Hansa coordination group «Youth Hansa – Veliky Novgorod», and Novgorod State University.

Educational program includes 2 semesters. Lessons are directed to informational, organizational and communicative training. The main forms of education are lections, seminars, multimedia presentations, discussions, games, excursions, and creative tasks.

Besides young volunteers are supposed to have practical tasks, such as participation in organization and carrying out of the Day of Hansa, the Youth Hansa Historical expedition to Veliky Novgorod, Hansa Commission meeting in November, and the 29th International Hanseatic Days in 2009.
